Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University 2026 Eighth Placement Results Are Out

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) has announced the results of its eighth international student application round for the 2026-2027 academic year. The results were published through the Student Information System in an announcement dated 3 September 2026.

Registration Calendar: Two Separate Windows

The registration process consists of two distinct stages, and it is important not to confuse the dates:

Online pre-registration: 4-9 September 2026
Document submission: 4-30 September 2026

The online pre-registration window is only six days. You have until the end of the month for document submission — but if you do not complete online pre-registration by 9 September, the longer document window is of no use to you.

Registration is carried out at yos.mehmetakif.edu.tr.

How Registration Works

According to the university's announcement, registration for successful candidates is completed online provided they pay the semester tuition fee. Payment is also made through the same address by logging into your account.

The announcement carries a warning in capital letters: tuition fees paid by registered students are not refunded. Be certain of your decision before paying.

Successful candidates obtain their QR-coded acceptance letters through the Student Information System. This letter is also required for your visa application, so do not neglect to download it.

2026-2027 Semester Tuition Fees

The university sets fees in US dollars and per semester. For students registering for the first time, the semester amounts are:

Faculty of Dentistry: 3,000 dollars
Turkish Music State Conservatory: 2,300 dollars
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine: 1,250 dollars
Faculty of Art and Design: 1,040 dollars
Faculty of Engineering and Architecture: 830 dollars
Bucak Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences: 830 dollars
Faculty of Arts and Sciences (Science Programs): 630 dollars
Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences: 630 dollars
Bucak Faculty of Business: 630 dollars
Bucak Health School, Bucak Zeliha Tolunay School of Applied Technology and Business, Gölhisar School of Applied Sciences: 630 dollars
Faculties of Education, Theology, Health Sciences, Sport Sciences and Tourism: 560 dollars
Faculty of Arts and Sciences (Literature and Social Programs): 520 dollars
Vocational Schools: 420 dollars

An important point here: these amounts are per semester. To calculate the annual cost, multiply by two. For example, the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture works out at roughly 1,660 dollars a year, and Dentistry at 6,000 dollars.

Four Things to Do After Registration

The university's announcement sets out the post-registration process in four steps:

Student registration file submission
Residence file submission and obtaining the foreigner identity number (YKN)
Beginning studies
Turkish proficiency preparatory education

Each step has its own conditions and timeframe; we explain them one by one below.

1. The Student Registration File: In Person or by Power of Attorney

The required documents must be delivered to the International Student Office of the Student Affairs Department between 4 and 30 September 2026, in person or through notarised representatives.

The registration file is accepted once the department has completed its examination and verification process. In other words, dropping off the documents is not enough — there is a review step.

The required documents:

Acceptance letter
Turkish translation of the passport — certified by a notary or Turkish foreign representatives
Original high school diploma or provisional graduation document and its notarised translation
Original transcript and its notarised translation
Exam result document for candidates placed via YÖS — the document must carry a verification code
Turkish proficiency certificate (TÖMER), if held — must be issued by the Yunus Emre Institute or a state university
2 photographs — 4.5x6.0 cm, taken within the last 6 months and clearly identifying the candidate
Financial guarantee commitment

Note the verification code requirement on the exam result document — a document without one is not accepted.

2. The Residence File: You Have 10 Working Days

Students who complete registration and submit their student file must also prepare and deliver their residence application file to the same office within 10 working days.

That window is short. Start gathering your residence documents the moment you submit your registration file. For details of the residence permit process and current fees, rely on the Directorate General of Migration Management's official pages.

3. The C1 Requirement for Starting Studies

This is MAKÜ's most distinctive rule and the point that catches many students unprepared.

To begin their academic studies, students must hold a C1-level Turkish Proficiency Certificate (TÖMER) issued by the Yunus Emre Institute or a state university.

While many universities accept B2, MAKÜ requires C1. Students holding a valid TÖMER certificate present it to their academic unit and complete their course registration.

4. No TÖMER Certificate? Conditional Registration Is Available

The university has set out a clear roadmap for students without a valid TÖMER certificate.

Turkish Placement Exam

Candidates without a valid TÖMER certificate may sit the Turkish Placement Exam organised by MAKÜ TÖMER. Three scenarios follow from the result:

C1 level: Students scoring at this level can begin their program directly.
B2 level (conditional registration): These students may begin their studies conditionally. However, they must achieve a C1-level score in the Turkish Placement Exam held at the end of the first academic year.
Unsuccessful candidates: Students who do not achieve a sufficient score cannot begin their academic studies directly and are enrolled in the MAKÜ TÖMER Turkish Preparatory Class.

Conditional registration at B2 is a significant flexibility: if your Turkish is at intermediate level, you can start your department without losing a year. But do not forget the obligation to reach C1 by the end of the year.

Not Placed? MAKÜ Opens Rounds Continuously

This is the university's eighth application round this period. MAKÜ opens new application periods regularly through the year, which means candidates who were not placed have further chances.

Check your result on the Student Information System.
Pay the semester tuition fee and complete your online pre-registration by 9 September.
Download your QR-coded acceptance letter and start your visa application.
Prepare all eight documents — especially the notarised translations and the exam result document with its verification code.
Submit your file by 30 September, in person or by power of attorney.
Prepare your residence file within 10 working days of submitting it.
