Izmir Bakırçay University 2026 First Waiting List Results Are Out

Izmir Bakırçay University has announced its waiting list placement results for international students for the 2026-2027 academic year. According to the university's announcement, applications were evaluated by the Departmental International Student Evaluation Commissions, and a list of candidates eligible for placement from the waiting list was prepared to fill the quotas left vacant after the main placement.

Congratulations to all successful candidates.

Registration Calendar: Mind the Hours

Candidates who gained the right to enrol from the waiting list must complete registration in person or through a notarised representative at the university's Registrar's Office, with the required documents:

10 September 2026: 08:30-17:00
11 September 2026: 08:30-12:30

Registration for candidates admitted from the waiting list ends at 12:30 on 11 September 2026. This cut-off is firm; no registration takes place in the afternoon.

The Most Critical Opportunity: The Afternoon of 11 September

This is the most valuable and most easily overlooked part of the announcement. A second door opens for candidates still on the waiting list who have not been placed.

According to the university's announcement: if vacant quotas remain after registrations, candidates whose application status shows as "WAITING LIST" in the application system and who wish to apply for one of the programs they previously selected may submit their applications, with the required documents, to the Registrar's Office between 13:00 and 17:00 on 11 September 2026, in person or through a notarised representative.

Following the completion of the application period, applicants are ranked according to their admission scores for the relevant program, starting from the highest score, and placed into the remaining vacant quotas.

And here is a very important detail: country quotas are not applied during this placement process.

Country quotas limit, at many universities, how many candidates of the same nationality can be placed in a program. Lifting that quota is a genuine opportunity for students who missed out because of it in programs where many candidates from their country applied.

Accepted candidates complete their final registration after the placement results are announced and the required tuition fee has been paid.

Tuition Fee: Strict Payment Rules

International students must pay the tuition fee of the program in which they will enrol. The payment rules are set out in detail in the announcement:

Payment before registration. The fee must be paid in full via EFT or bank transfer before coming to the university for final registration.
Account details. Payment goes to the Vakıfbank account of the "İzmir Bakırçay University Department of Strategy Development", IBAN TR78 0001 5001 5800 7307 6807 48.
Description is mandatory. The student's first name, last name and passport number must be written in the description/reference section of the bank receipt.
Charges cannot be deducted. Any bank transfer or transaction fees incurred must not be deducted from the tuition fee. The full amount must reach the university's account.
A shortfall blocks registration. If the amount received in the university's account is less than required, the student's registration will not be processed.

That last point matters enormously. Banks often deduct fees on international transfers; select the "all charges borne by sender" option, or a shortfall may prevent your registration.

2026-2027 Tuition Fees

According to the university's published 2026-2027 fee table, the per-term amounts for those beginning their studies this year:

Faculty of Medicine: ₺461,740.00
International Trade and Business (English) and Management Information Systems (English): ₺38,598.75
Faculty of Law: ₺34,310.00
Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (Computer, Biomedical, Electrical-Electronics, Industrial Engineering): ₺34,054.50
Faculty of Health Sciences (Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Speech and Language Therapy, Audiology, Health Management): ₺30,498.00
Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (Economics, Business): ₺25,732.50
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (Psychology, Geography, Sociology, History): ₺22,873.50
Karşıyaka Vocational School (Laboratory and Veterinary Health): ₺17,145.00

These amounts apply separately to the autumn and spring terms. To calculate the annual cost, multiply by two.

Why Are English-Taught Programs More Expensive?

One difference stands out in the fee table: the two English-taught programs (International Trade and Business, Management Information Systems) are markedly more expensive than the Turkish-taught programs in the same faculty.

The university explains the reason in the table: under Article 9 of the decision on the contribution fees and tuition fees to be charged as student contributions to current service costs at higher education institutions in the 2026-2027 academic year, tuition and contribution fees in higher education programs taught in a foreign language are charged at one and a half times the rate.

So choosing an English-taught program means roughly 50% higher fees at the same university. This is a nationwide regulation. For cost planning, see our cost and scholarship guide.

Turkish Proficiency: The C1 Requirement and the DİLMER Exam

International student candidates admitted to the university must certify Turkish proficiency at C1 level in order to start their courses in the programs they have registered for.

Students who enrol in a Turkish-taught program but whose Turkish proficiency is insufficient, or who hold no proficiency document, must take the Turkish Proficiency Exam to be held by DİLMER on 16 September 2026.

Students scoring 70 (seventy) points (C1) or above in this exam are considered proficient in Turkish and can start their education in their registered program.

Yunus Emre Institute documents obtained within the last two years prior to the registration date are also valid as a Turkish proficiency certificate.

Exemption Exam for English-Taught Programs

For students placed in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences programs in Management Information Systems (English) and International Trade and Business (English), the Foreign Language Proficiency and English Preparatory Class Exemption Exam is held on 14 and 15 September 2026.

Students who fail the exam must follow a 1-year compulsory English preparatory program.

In addition, the exemption exam for Foreign Language I (English) — one of the common compulsory courses taught across all programs at the university — is held on 23 September 2026, and all newly registered students may sit it.

Documents Required for Registration

Bank receipt showing that the tuition fee has been paid
The original high school diploma — or a temporary graduation certificate for newly graduated students whose diploma is not yet ready — and its Turkish translation approved by a notary or Turkish foreign representations
The original equivalency certificate — to be obtained from the Turkish Ministry of National Education or Turkish foreign representations
An official transcript approved by the high school directorate and a copy of its Turkish translation approved by a notary or Turkish foreign representations
Exam result document — the result of the exam accepted by the university and submitted in the application
Passport and original ID obtained from official authorities — Turkish nationals or dual citizens who completed all high school education abroad must submit an entry-exit record from e-government
Detailed Population Registration Certificate — for candidates who were foreign nationals by birth and later acquired Turkish citizenship (available from e-government)
Student Visa — to be obtained from Turkish foreign representations
Foreign language and/or Turkish proficiency certificate — if held
Residence permit

The Verification Code Requirement

The announcement carries a critical warning: during registration, exam result documents are checked through the document verification system of the institution that issued them.

And the rule is unambiguous: result documents from exams that are not held face-to-face and that do not carry a verification code are not accepted.

If you applied with an online or unverifiable exam result, your registration may not be processed. Make sure your document carries a verification code.

What You Should Do Now

Check your result and status in the application system.
If placed, pay the tuition fee immediately — write your name, surname and passport number in the receipt description, and have the sender bear all charges.
Register on 10 September 08:30-17:00 or 11 September 08:30-12:30.
If you are still on the waiting list, do not miss the 13:00-17:00 window on 11 September — country quotas are not applied.
Obtain your student visa — it is among the registration documents.
If you have no Turkish certificate, prepare for the DİLMER exam on 16 September.
If placed in an English-taught program, watch for the 14-15 September exemption exam.
