Sinop University 2026-2027 Sixth Placement Applications Are Open
Sinop University has opened its sixth international student application round for the 2026-2027 academic year. According to the announcement published by the university's International Relations Office on 31 August 2026, applications are being received online.
Good news for those who miss this round: the calendar for the seventh application period has been published in the same announcement.
Sixth Application Round Calendar
Applications to higher education programs are received between 1 and 13 September 2026. Evaluation and placement will take place on 14 September, and placed candidates will be announced on 15 September 2026.
Temporary online registration for placed candidates runs from 16 to 27 September 2026, while final (in-person) registration takes place within the 1 July – 30 November 2026 window.
Seventh Application Round Calendar
The announcement also includes the seventh round. Applications will be received between 30 September and 25 October 2026, evaluation and placement will be carried out from 26 to 30 October, and placed candidates will be announced on 2 November 2026.
Temporary online registration runs 3-15 November 2026, with final registration again within the 1 July – 30 November 2026 window.
The publication of this calendar matters: candidates who are not placed in the sixth round have a second opportunity immediately afterwards.
Before You Apply: A Mandatory Online Course
This is the most critical and most frequently overlooked item in the announcement. Sinop University's condition is unambiguous:
To be able to apply, candidates must complete the online course provided by the university's Continuing Education Application and Research Center (SÜSEM). The announcement states plainly that applications from candidates who do not complete this program will not be evaluated.
The course is accessible through SÜSEM's website. Do not skip this step before applying — otherwise your application will be invalid even if all your other documents are complete.
The announcement also notes that the university accepts no responsibility for incorrect information or documents uploaded during the application.
Documents to Upload During Application
The documents required in PDF format at the application stage are as follows:
- A copy of the Turkish translation of the high school diploma, prepared and certified by Turkish Embassies or Turkish notaries. The transcript — the official document issued by the school administration showing the courses taken and grades received — together with its Turkish translation certified in the same way.
- For candidates whose secondary school grade average does not appear on the diploma or transcript, a certified Turkish translation of an official document from their school showing that grade average.
- The TR-YÖS result document and/or a certified Turkish translation of a document corresponding to any of the criteria set out in the university's application and admission directive. Finally, a copy of the identity document or the passport page bearing the photograph and identity details.
- Alongside TR-YÖS, the university also accepts SAT, ACT, high school diploma and national exam results. How each criterion is evaluated is set out in the university's International Student Application and Admission Directive.
Documents Required at Final Registration
- The final registration list is more extensive: a wet-signed copy of the online application form, the original high school diploma together with the original certified Turkish document, and the equivalency certificate.
- The equivalency certificate confirms that the high school diploma is equivalent to diplomas issued by Turkish high schools, and can be obtained from directorates under the Ministry of National Education or from Turkish Embassies abroad.
- In addition, the high school transcript and its certified translation, the original of the university entrance or school leaving exam result document with its certified translation, the original TR-YÖS result document, and a photocopy of the passport presented alongside the original are required.
- The registration file must also contain the original or a certified copy of the Turkish Language Proficiency Certificate, the residence permit, the GSS document, and the bank receipt confirming that the tuition fee has been paid into a Ziraat Bank branch.
The Financial Requirement: 330,300 TL
The announcement contains another item that catches many students unprepared. Candidates are asked for a financial status document and/or written declaration showing that their means are sufficient to sustain their higher education in Türkiye.
For the 2026-2027 academic year, this amount is stated in the announcement as 330,300.00 TL.
This is not a fee you pay; it is a declaration of financial capacity showing you can support yourself during your studies in Türkiye. Since similar documents may be requested during visa and residence permit procedures, preparing this paperwork early is sensible.
Turkish Proficiency and Leave of Absence
The university will hold a Turkish Language Proficiency Exam on 5 October 2026 and 2 December 2026 to determine students' Turkish level. Details will be announced on the pages of the International Relations Office and the Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center.
There is a reassuring provision here for international students: candidates who do not hold a Turkish Language Proficiency Certificate, or whose Turkish level is insufficient, are still registered provided their other documents are complete, and are granted one year of leave to improve their Turkish. During that period, however, they cannot benefit from student rights.
A similar distinction applies to the residence permit: students who hold the Turkish Language Proficiency Certificate and will begin their studies obtain the permit from the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management using their registration/student document. It is not required from those without the certificate or from those on leave who will not continue their studies.

Points to Watch at Final Registration
The key warnings in the announcement are as follows: candidates must apply for final registration in person. A candidate who does not register on the specified date loses the right to register and cannot do so unless placed again by the university. Applications with missing documents or documents not meeting the required conditions are not registered.
Candidates must also meet the special conditions attached to programs (health board report, height and weight measurements and body mass index, clothing and equipment, age, nationality, gender, school type and so on). Those choosing programs admitting students by special talent exam must meet the conditions in the relevant unit's special talent guide and pass the exam; a candidate who does not pass cannot register.
