Istanbul Technical University 2026 Second Placement Results Are Out

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) has announced the results of the second undergraduate application round for international candidates for the 2026-2027 academic year. The results were published through ITU's Student Information System, with main and waiting lists ordered by program.

Congratulations to all successful candidates.

Final Registration Calendar

  • Final registration (in person and online): 2 September – 4 September 2026, until 16:00 Türkiye time
  • Submission of original documents for online registrants: 28 September – 2 October 2026

Registration lasts only three days and closes at 16:00 on the final day. This deadline is stated explicitly in ITU's announcement, so leaving it to the last day is risky.

Two Registration Options

ITU offers candidates two routes this term:

  • In-person registration
Location: Istanbul Technical University Ayazağa Campus, Student Affairs Department. You must attend with the originals of your documents.

  • Online registration
Candidates who register online submit their original documents between 28 September and 2 October 2026. This route is a considerable advantage for candidates who have not yet arrived in Türkiye.

Candidates on the main list will receive an acceptance letter confirming admission, sent to the email address they declared during application. This document also matters for visa applications.

Documents Required at Final Registration

The list published by ITU:

  • Exam/diploma result: The original of the exam result used in the application (SAT, ACT etc.). If you used SAT or ACT, you can print the result page from that exam's own website. If you used diploma scores such as IB, Matura or ABITUR, you must present the original document.
  • Original high school diploma: If your diploma is in a language other than English or Turkish, it must be submitted with a Turkish or English translation certified by a notary, district governorate or consulate. International students who completed high school in Türkiye must also submit the e-Devlet high school graduation document.
  • Original high school transcript: Under the same translation and certification requirement.
  • Diploma equivalency certificate: Obtainable from the Board of Education (Talim ve Terbiye Kurulu Başkanlığı) or Turkish consulates abroad.
  • Passport and national ID card of your country of citizenship: Original and photocopy, plus a photocopy of the page showing your most recent entry into the country. If you are a citizen of a country subject to visa requirements, the original and a photocopy of your student visa.
  • Residence permit card (original and photocopy) for students who hold one.
  • Bank receipt showing payment of the semester tuition fee.
  • Commitment form (taahhütname), completed from the form on ITU's page.
  • 4 passport photographs.
  • For students under 18, parental consent (explained below).
  • Student Information Form: To be completed in full electronically.

Four Points to Watch Carefully

  1. Payment only through Vakıfbank. ITU's announcement carries an explicit warning: payments must be made at Vakıfbank branches by stating your student number, and you must not pay to any IBAN number. The tuition contribution can be paid this way from 2 September to 4 September. This warning matters as protection against fraud — do not transfer money to anyone's IBAN.

  2. Get your equivalency certificate from a consulate. ITU advises this directly: while it is possible to obtain the equivalency certificate from Directorates of National Education in Türkiye, that process can take a very long time, so obtaining it from a Turkish consulate in your own country is recommended. It is essential that the document be verifiable.

  3. Name discrepancies cause problems. If the names on your identity documents differ from those on your other documents, additional documents are required: birth certificate, consulate name document, or a detailed civil registration copy. If you know your name appears differently across documents, prepare these in advance.

  4. Under 18? Parental consent is required. A notarised consent letter (wet-signed and stamped) from both parents, stating that your legal guardians permit you to register and study at Istanbul Technical University, must be delivered in person. However, if both parents can be physically present during registration, the notarised consent is not required — instead the parents provide a written approval petition.

Students who later acquired Turkish citizenship must also provide additional documents, such as a citizenship acquisition or name equivalency document, a detailed civil registration copy, and a photocopy of their most recent residence permit.

How to Check the Result Lists

Under Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698, candidates' names and surnames are published in encrypted form. ITU therefore recommends checking the results by candidate number as well. The list is ordered by program.

The list also includes ITU-TRNC programs with 50% scholarship and full scholarship quotas. If you were placed in a scholarship program, this is indicated in your result.

What If You Were Not Placed?

If you did not make the main list in this round, the process is not necessarily closed. The lists also include waiting-list places, and universities may carry out further evaluations for places left vacant after the registration period.

What you should do is follow ITU's Student Information System announcements regularly. Other universities also open additional application and supplementary placement rounds during this period; we publish these announcements daily on our blog.

New to the Process?

ITU accepts international exam and diploma scores such as SAT, ACT, IB, Matura and ABITUR from international candidates. To learn about TR-YÖS and Türkiye's admission system in general, see our guide to what TR-YÖS is, its exam structure and application process.

To estimate your TR-YÖS score, you can use our TR-YÖS Score Calculator — the tool only estimates your score and does not show which universities will admit you.
