Gazi University 2026-2027 Supplementary Placement Applications Open for TRNC Nationals
Gazi University has opened an application round for its associate and undergraduate programs in the 2026-2027 academic year specifically for candidates holding TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) citizenship. This is a separate process from the general international student intake, with quotas reserved for this group.
The window is extremely short, so let us start with the calendar.
Application Calendar
The dates published in the university's official announcement are as follows:
- Applications open: 1 September 2026, 08:30
- Applications close: 4 September 2026, 16:00
- Announcement of evaluation results: 18 September 2026
The application window is only four days and closes in the afternoon of the final day. There is no time to gather documents at leisure.
One note: An announcement circulating on Telegram gives the result date as 19 September, whereas Gazi University's official announcement states 18 September 2026. Rely on the university's own announcement for the definitive date.
Quotas: 16 Places Across 16 Programs
This is the most critical piece of information in the announcement. The TRNC quota list published by the university allocates just one place per program. The programs with quotas are:
- Faculty of Dentistry: Dentistry (5 years)
- Faculty of Pharmacy: Pharmacy (5 years)
- Gazi Faculty of Education: Geography Teaching, French Teaching, English Teaching, Mathematics Teaching (4 years)
- Faculty of Nursing: Nursing (4 years)
- Faculty of Architecture: Architecture (4 years)
- Faculty of Engineering: Civil Engineering (English), Mechanical Engineering (English) (4 years)
- Faculty of Health Sciences: Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (4 years)
- Faculty of Technology: Industrial Design Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering (4 years)
- Faculty of Medicine: Medicine (6 years) and Medicine in English (6 years)
With a single place in each program, your preference strategy matters enormously. Candidates may choose a maximum of three different programs, so all three choices need to be realistic.
Who Can Apply?
The announcement sets out eligibility in detail. Being in the final year of high school or already a graduate is the baseline requirement. Beyond that, candidates fall into these groups:
- Foreign nationals — provided they have not studied at or graduated from high schools in Türkiye. Foreign nationals who completed their entire high school education at embassy schools or international private institutions listed in the MOBİS system, and foreign nationals who came to Türkiye under a project run by the Ministry of National Education or the Council of Higher Education, are excluded from this condition.
- Those born as Turkish citizens who lost citizenship through renunciation permission, and Blue Card holders — provided they have not studied at or graduated from high schools in Türkiye or the TRNC. The announcement recommends these candidates review Article 7 of Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901.
- Those who acquired Turkish citizenship later, and dual nationals in this situation — again provided they did not attend high school in Türkiye or the TRNC.
- Turkish nationals who completed their entire high school education in a foreign country other than the TRNC — including those who completed it at Turkish schools opened under the Ministry of National Education abroad.
- TRNC nationals — provided they did not attend or graduate from high schools in Türkiye or from TRNC high schools following the Turkish curriculum; they must hold GCE A-Level, TR-YÖS or one of the criteria specified in the directive.
The fifth item is the core audience of this announcement. If you studied at a TRNC high school following the Turkish curriculum, you cannot use this quota — this distinction is crucial.
Accepted Exams and Thresholds
The university accepts exams and diplomas including TR-YÖS, GCE A-Level, SAT, IB and ACT. The known TR-YÖS thresholds are 400 points for undergraduate programs and 300 points for programs admitting students by special talent exam and for associate degree programs.
The announcement carries a critical warning: the exam type selected in the "Exams" tab, with its document uploaded, is what gets evaluated, and candidates are evaluated on a single exam document of their own choosing. If you hold more than one qualification, you must pick the most advantageous one yourself — the system will not choose the best for you.
Applications from candidates whose exam results cannot be verified are not accepted. For the full list of accepted exams and minimum conditions, consult the university's Directive on the Admission of International Students.
Documents to Upload
Applications are entirely online; applications by hand or post are not accepted. The documents to upload are:
- High school diploma and certified copy of its translation, plus the equivalency certificate. The equivalency certificate can be obtained from the Turkish Ministry of National Education or from the Turkish Embassy in your country. Candidates who cannot upload it during the application submit it at registration. Candidates who have not yet received their diploma must upload a provisional graduation document showing their expected graduation date and likely grades.
- Transcript and a certified copy of its Turkish translation. The announcement is explicit: the document must contain a grade average — transcripts without a calculated average are not evaluated.
- Valid exam result document.
- Passport — the pages containing photographic identity details. Passports with at least 6 months of validity remaining at the application date are accepted. Turkish nationals who completed high school abroad and Blue Card holders must also upload pages showing entry and exit dates to Türkiye.
- Identity document — Blue Card holders upload a copy of the Blue Card; those who later acquired Turkish citizenship upload a document showing their first nationality.
- Passport photograph — 4.5 x 6 cm, colour, taken within the last 6 months. Photographs not meeting these conditions are treated as not uploaded. If you are admitted, this photograph will appear on your student ID card.
- Bank receipt showing payment of the application and exam fee.
Application Fee: 100 Dollars
Candidates pay 100 US dollars as an "application and exam fee" during the application and upload the receipt to the system.
There is a detail here that deserves close attention. According to the announcement, the current-dated receipt must show the student's name and surname along with the university's IBAN number. Receipts lacking or missing this information are not accepted, and the application is not evaluated.
If someone else makes the payment on your behalf, the description field of the receipt must state the candidate's name and surname in the form "application and exam fee of …(Name)… …(Surname)…". Payment is made to the university's account at Halkbank; confirm the account details from the university's official announcement before transferring.
A Small but Important Warning: Your Email Address
The announcement shares a lesson from previous years: problems have occasionally occurred with email addresses using @hotmail, @msn and @outlook extensions. If the acceptance letter sent after evaluation does not reach you, you must contact the Student Affairs Department at internationalstudent@gazi.edu.tr.
Consider using a different email provider when applying, and check your spam folder regularly.

If You Are Not Placed in This Round
With a single place in each program, competition is intense. But not being placed in one application round does not mean the process is closed. Universities open new application rounds from time to time depending on remaining quotas.
